Drama, Art and Story Telling Workshops….

Cerridwen has a wealth of experience working with children, teenagers and adults and is a fully qualified teacher. Working in the community or in festivals she can create workshops that revolve around her speciality of folktales. She has an enhanced DBS check and is fully insured. She was recently commissioned to create workshops to introduce the importance and value of traditional stories in an accessible and creative way for young children. Using local stories and mystical legends, she used Drama and Art as a gateway for exploring the children’s own family history and legends. Stories connected the children to their immediate landscape, culture and heritage. If you need a bespoke workshop created for children, teenagers or adults please get in touch with your requirements.

The Boggart

The Boggart Workshop

The Boggart Workshops we provided were for children aged 6 to 10 years and were delivered from our local Arts Hub, ‘Fire and Water’ in Sowerby Bridge in Halifax. Boggarts are legendary Yorkshire based mischievous creatures who get up to no good! You can imagine how much the children loved them. Sowerby Bridge, has a place called Boggart lane so participants explored the history of the area as part of the workshop. Children painted pictures and created costumes and then performed improvised and narrated tales about Boggarts.

The Hermit Workshop

The Hermit

Our Hermit Workshops were especially created to engage teenagers in the cultural heritage of story telling. From the stimulus of a famous folk tale they created their own theatre productions from their own family memories and from the tales passed down by their grandparents. Together with us and a specialist Art practitioner, they went on to design costumes and create props for their final performance.

A rather impressive picture of a Boggart from one of the participants.
